- @blairlite One thing. There was a donation of £10k to my N Norfolk campaign from Bearwood in 2004/5 but that was not to me personally.
Bearwood (for any political illiterate), of course, is “Lord” Ashcroft of Sleaze.
So ten grand bought what?
Tory vote 2001: 23,495, 41.8%, up 5.3%
Tory vote 2005 (Iain Dale): 20,909, 35.5%, down 6.3%
Norman Lamb, the worthy LibDem (not all are totally useless), increased his majority by 10,123.
Ashcroft money lost the Tories a vote for every £.
The future’s bright! In North Norfolk, the future’s Orange.
